Safety Requirements

The vehicle must have:
- no fluid leaks
- secured battery
- working seat belts
- Driver has the proper helmet and attire.
- Final decision is made by the tech attendant on day of race.

Alberta Diesel Day Drag Racing Classes, Rules and General Overview

 The racing program for Alberta Diesel Day at Rad Torque Raceway will be as follows;

 Competitor gates open at 7am.  Competitor Tech starts at 7:30am.  Drivers meeting is at 9 am with time trials to begin at 9:30am. Round 1 of competition to begin at 12 noon after 2 rounds of time trials.  Drag racing finals and trophy presentation is to be at 4pm and concluded by 5pm. 

 Light duty diesel race classes competing will be as follows;

 Sportsman Diesel:  Limited to diesel powered race vehicles 11.50 seconds and slower in the 1/4 mile.  Bracket racing style with dial in times.  .5 sportsman tree.  Qualified by reaction time.  Best reaction time gets lane choice.  1st round loss buy back is permitted with amount to be decided day of race.  All buy backs go directly to 1st place purse.  Must pass all NHRA tech and safety for ET of dial in. Class is limited to 40 vehicles.

 Super Street Diesel:  Limited to diesel powered race vehicles 10.00 to 11.50 seconds in the 1/4 mile.  Bracket racing style with dial in times.  .4 pro tree.  Qualified by reaction time.  Best reaction time gets lane choice.  1st round loss buy back is permitted with amount to be decided day of race.  All buy backs go directly to 1st place purse.  Must pass all NHRA tech and safety for 10.00 to 11.50 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Class is limited to 30 vehicles.

 Pro Diesel:  Limited to diesel powered race vehicles 5.40 to 6.39 seconds in the 1/8 mile.  Heads up with a 5.40 index.  .4 pro tree.  Qualified by closest to 5.4000 seconds.  Highest mph gets lane choice.  1st round loss buy back is permitted with amount to be decided day of race.  All buy backs go directly to 1st place purse.  Must pass all NHRA tech and saftey for 8.50 to 10.00 seconds in the 1/4 mile.  Class is limited to 30 vehicles.

 Extreme Diesel:  Limited to diesel powered race vehicles 5.39 seconds and quicker in the 1/8 mile.  Heads up racing with no index.  .4 pro tree.  Qualified by lowest ET.  Highest mph gets lane choice.  1st round loss buy back is permitted with amount to be decided day of race.  All buy backs go directly to the 1st place purse.  Must pass all NHRA tech and saftey for 8.49 seconds and quicker in the 1/4 mile.  Class is limited to 20 vehicles.

Alberta Diesel Day Super 66 Drag Race Class

About:  

Spec turbo class designed for the average diesel enthusiast.  Goal of the class is to build a fun and competitive heads up to 11.50et ¼ mile drag race class that is easily achievable by every diesel truck owner.  Class is limited to 11.50et in the ¼ mile as this will be a true No Roll Bar or Roll Cage class.  Class will be open to both 4wd and 2wd trucks.  2wd Trucks will receive a weight break but also be limited to a smaller turbo.

Basic Rules:  

4wd trucks must weigh a minimum of 7500lbs and run a spec 66mm turbo. 

2wd trucks must weigh a minimum of 5500lbs and run a spec 63mm turbo.

All winning trucks will be weighed after every pass.

All 4wd competitors must run the exact same True North Turbos 66mm compressor, 80mm turbine and .90 T4 Turbine Housing.  No modifications to the turbo compressor inlet, outlet, center section, compressor wheel, turbine wheel or turbine housing.  Slip or V-band discharge on the compressor cover is allowed.  

All 2wd competitors must run the exact same True North Turbos 63mm compressor, 80mm turbine and .90 T4 Turbine Housing.  No modifications to the turbo compressor inlet, outlet, center section, compressor wheel, turbine wheel or turbine housing.  Slip or V-band discharge on the compressor cover is allowed.

No roll bars or roll cages allowed.

Drivers must wear current Snell/DOT rated helmet and single layer fire jacket.

No injectables of any sort allowed. 

Pump diesel only.  No racing diesel additives allowed.

Any truck/engine/trans combination allowed as long as it was original to a pickup truck application.  

Oem ECM only’s.  ECM does not need to be original to vehicle.  

Original style intercooler for the vehicle or engine must be used.  Upgraded intercoolers are allowed.  If your truck has a factory Air to Water (6.7 Powerstroke) You can retain and upgrade your Air to Water Intercooler.  No Air to Water intercooler conversions allowed for Cummins, Duramax or other Powerstroke engines where originally an Air to Air intercooler was used.  

Any OEM diesel transmission can be used.  No trans brakes allowed.  Must be foot brake launch only.  

Racing style tires recommended.  Slicks or Radials are preferred.  No tire restrictions.  Street tires are allowed.

Limited to 32 Truck Field.  $2000 Entry fee and INCLUDES either the 66mm or 63mm spec turbo.   

Class Protest/Rule Infringement.

Turbo Protes ($500):

Any racer may protest another racer’s turbo if they believe it was modified away from it’s original spec.  The protest fee is $500 and must be paid to class tech immediately when protest is made.  The racer with the protested turbo must remove it completely from the truck under the supervision of class tech and fully inspected/measured by the class tech.  If the turbo passes inspection/measuring and is deemed legal, the protested racer gets to keep the turbo and the $500 for the removal/installation of said turbo.

If the turbo is found to be modified or altered in anyway the protested racer is immediately disqualified from competition.  The illegal turbo is confiscated by class tech and the protested competitor no longer has a turbo.  The $500 is then returned back to the racer who initiated the rule infringement protest.

General Rule Protest ($500):

Any racer may protest class rules being broken by another racer.  The protest fee is $500 and must be paid to class tech immediately when protest is made.  Class tech will perform a full inspection of the protested racer based on class general rules.  If the protested racer is found to have broken class rules they will be immediately disqualified from the race and the $500 protest fee will be returned to the protester.  If the protested racer is proven to have NOT broken any rules, they receive the $500 protest fee for their troubles.

Racer & Crew FAQ

  1. All racers must first submit their racer registration form.

2. Then order your racer ticket by visiting our ticket website. Select the competitor option and complete the form. 

3. Sign the waiver.

The free racer registration grants you access to the race events, pits, dedicated racer areas, and pre-event testing opportunities. The ticket  include admission.  Crew must purchase their own crew pass tickets.

Yes, all participating vehicles must follow the class rules and pass a safety inspection based on our event guidelines to ensure a safe racing environment for everyone.

The vehicle has:

Crew tickets can be purchased through our ticketing website by navigating to the “GA Adult”. Tickets are priced at $25 + processing fee.

General Admin tickets provide access to the pit area, allowing crew members to support their racers throughout the event. 

To ensure a safe and manageable environment for all participants, there is a limit of 2  crew tickets available per registered racer. Please contact us directly for the most current information.

Crew members will have access to the pit area and other designated zones to support their team.
