Dirt Oval Racing
Dirt Oval Racing brings a new level of competition to Alberta Diesel Day. With pickup trucks and big rigs running in separate classes, drivers will compete through multiple rounds, heats, and a final main event to crown the winners.
Expect tight racing, strategic driving, and nonstop action from start to finish.

Dirt Track Racing Rules
- Safety Equipment: All drivers must wear DOT approved helmets. Must have seatbelts. Lap belts only not allowed. Drivers must wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Single Layer Fire jacket and neck collar encouraged but not required. All windows must be rolled up and closed when trucks are on track racing.
- Driver Eligibility: All drivers must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
- Basic Vehicle Guidelines: Open to all street legal diesel powered pickup trucks. Trucks must be mechanically sound with no obvious damage that could cause a dangerous condition while racing. Must use DOT pickup truck tires. No AG or pure offroad tires. Track tech official’s have final say whether a truck will be allowed to compete.
- Fuel and Injectables: Nitrous is not allowed on any truck competing. Bottles must be removed from vehicle. Water meth or straight water injection is allowed. Any diesel fuel is allowed.
- Pickup Truck Specific Rules: Racing is open to all street legal driven diesel powered trucks. Any truck with a roll cage is considered to be non street legal competition vehicle. Those trucks will not be allowed to compete. For safety reasons big power trucks over 750whp are not allowed to compete. Track tech officials have final say whether or not a truck is eligible to compete. Please email [email protected] if you have specific questions regarding your trucks eligibility.
- Race Conduct: Drivers must maintain control and avoid intentional contact. Unsportsmanlike behaviour, reckless driving, or fighting will result in immediate disqualification. Any driver found to be under the influence of any drink or substance will be immediately disqualified from the event.
- Track Rules: Races will be drawn via chip draw. Chip colors will assign the starting position of either the low or high side of the track. Drivers must stay in their designated “lane” for the race. Any crossing over into the other competitors lane will result in a disqualification. NO CONTACT ALLOWED!! Follow all instructions from track officials. Only authorized personnel are allowed on the track during races and caution periods.
- Starts and Restarts: Races start under green flag conditions; false starts will result in race disqualification. Flag/Tower Operator has final ruling on clean or false starts.
- Flags: All Drivers Must Obey all flag signals:
- Green: Start/race underway.
- Yellow: Caution, slow down, no passing.
- Red: Stop immediately.
- Black: Disqualified or ordered to pit.
- Checkered: Race finished.
- Pit Area: Speed limits are enforced in the pit area. Only racers, team members and officials allowed; spectators must stay clear.
- Protests and Appeals: Any protests regarding race results or conduct must be lodged with officials within 30 minutes of race completion.
- Weather and Track Conditions: Officials may delay, reschedule, or shorten races for safety due to weather or track conditions.
- Local Adjustments: Rules may be adapted based on local conditions or number of entrants, as noted in the schedule. Always check with event organizers for any additional requirements.
