When it comes to growing the love of motorsports, it’s never too early to start. That’s why we’re excited to shine a spotlight on the Nitro Ratz Jr Dragster Club, one of Western Canada’s leading groups dedicated to youth racing.
Who are the Nitro Ratz?
Based out of RAD Torque Raceway just outside Edmonton, the Nitro Ratz Jr Dragster Club brings together young racers ages 5 to 17 for the thrill of drag racing in a safe, NHRA-sanctioned environment. These kids aren’t just learning to race—they’re developing skills, friendships, and a deep appreciation for the motorsport community. With roots dating back to 1985, and their official club forming soon after, the Nitro Ratz have become a staple at tracks all over Alberta and beyond. Next year, they’ll proudly celebrate 25 years as an organized club!
Community and Growth
Drag racing is constantly evolving: rules have changed, safety has improved, and organizations have grown. But the heart of Jr Drag Racing has stayed the same. The bonds between racers and families are strong, and the club truly feels like a community, supporting each other both on and off the track. Whether it’s a handshake after a tight race or sharing stories from the day, Nitro Ratz members embody sportsmanship and camaraderie. These racers aren’t just competitors; they’re friends who cheer each other on and celebrate each other’s achievements.
Speedway Market Nationals: A Passion Fuelled by Support
We’re excited to officially announce that this year’s Jr Dragster Race at Alberta Diesel Day will be called the Speedway Market Nationals, thanks to the generous title sponsorship of Casey and Celeste Plaizier of the Speedway Market.
